CHESS CAMPUS
Hello,
I explain to you what the Summer Chess Campus 25 will be, the schedule of activities and the Registration Sheet. On Monday, August 18, we will have the campus meeting. We will do the in-person version at the Escola Peons de Reus (16 Abat Escarré street, ground floor 1, Reus, Spain) at 7:00 p.m. and another online version for those who cannot travel at 8:30 p.m.
There we will introduce ourselves, assign groups, explain the campus routine, what may be necessary and answer questions. In any case, you can ask any questions via email, WhatsApp or with a phone call.
Who we are
The Escola Peons de Reus is a project that mixes professional chess training activities, both at the school premises, in schools, other clubs and centers, individuals... both in person and online; as well as a more sporting and associative part, with the Associació d'Escacs Peons de Reus, which we use to organize tournaments and participate in competitions both at the federative level and at a more recreational and informal level.
Dates and meals
In the first shift, we will enter the house on Wednesday, August 20 at 5:00 p.m. and we will finish the activity on Friday, August 22, at 3:00 p.m., after lunch. Meals are included from Wednesday's snack to Friday's lunch, both included.
Our philosophy
We are setting up this campus so that children can have a good time, make friends and learn a little chess. It's not just about getting technical. Chess is nourished by players but also by people who participate from the competitive, associative and recreational sides.
The house and the surroundings
Hospitalet del Infante is a population center that belongs to the municipality of Vandellós and Hospitalet del Infante, located in the south of the province of Tarragona. The municipality offers a unique landscape due to its contrast, sea and mountains, in the center of the Costa Dorada.

The Hostel has 40 rooms (sleeps 2, 4 or 6), all of them equipped with an individual bathroom (7 of these located on the ground floor and one adapted bathroom). The total capacity of the hostel is 183 places. In addition, the municipality offers visitors a wide range of recreational and cultural proposals.

Age and level profiles. Groups
We have a wide range of children between 6-7 years old and boys and girls between 15-16 years old. As soon as
At the level, they are also a heterogeneous group, from those who just move pieces, to those who train and are in technical training groups of the Federation. Our idea is to make groups to be able to adapt as much as possible to the interests and needs of the chess players, understanding that they have different rhythms.
Do we play chess all day or do other activities?
The activities will be varied, the Bughouse Tournament, a trip to the beach + activity (inflatables and/or excursion to the “Cova del Llop Marí”), a Lucky Card Tournament/Night Chessoccer Tournament Blitz on the last day. We also have scheduled activities for them to get to know each other and form a group and a soccer game on the grass field.
What do you need to bring?
They will need a change of clothes for each day, if you can wrap them for days, the better.
Comfortable clothing to be able to move and play.
A bag for dirty clothes
Hand towel, shower towel and beach towel
Swimsuit and swimming cap (if it rained we would go to the pool)
Bath flip flops
Toiletry bag with shampoo, brush and toothpaste.
A canteen with water (that we can refill)
Sun cream and anti-mosquitoes
Cap
Pajamas
Sleeping bag
Contact with families
We understand the concern of fathers and mothers, who are not used to being separated from their children and want to know how they are doing. We will take photos every day of the different activities and we will share them regularly with you via WhatsApp. We ask you to be careful with photos where other children who are not yours appear.
We will not proactively offer the possibility of calling home to prevent them from missing you and having a bad time creating an unnecessary problem. In any case, whether the child or the family needs to call, we will be available.
You can send me a message or call directly. Keep in mind that we will be doing activities and there is a possibility that at any given time I will not have coverage or that for some reason I will not have any battery left, in that case we will contact you when we can.
Do boys and girls sleep together?
We will have rooms for 4-5 participants and the monitors will do the night rounds to make sure they rest. We will group them by sex, age and/or affinity, after consulting with the children and with the agreement of the families at the time you drop them off.
Safety and regulations
Peons follows all safety regulations and common sense to the letter in order to ensure that the activity is safe. With all the qualifications, insurance, ratios... that the Generalitat establishes, as it cannot be otherwise.
Write an email to escolapeons@gmail.com and I will send you the registration form
Do not hesitate to express any questions, we remain in contact.
Thank you and we are at your disposal
